Corporate Responsibility

When we invest, we are not only investing in financial outcomes, but also for the greater good of our communities. Ultimately, these values inform and influence human behavior—which, over time, profoundly shapes the world we live in.

As investors, you have an opportunity to create a better world by being thoughtful about where you choose to invest your money, energy, and influence. The choices we make today become the world we live in tomorrow, and the world we leave behind for those who follow behind us.

At Pence Wealth Management, we believe our legacy is the world we leave behind. As a family-owned firm, we are committed to a simple creed: everything we do reflects not only the values we share as a family, but also the principles that are important to our clients.

Our corporate responsibility commitment is built on three pillars: Diversity & Inclusion, Community Engagement, and Philanthropy. We believe these values are drivers of the greatest good and taken together, help make us better investors, corporate citizens, and wiser stewards of the next generation of innovation and wealth.

Pence Wealth adopts an approach to looking after money, which reflects the individual objectives of various clients – from private individuals and the businesses they own, to the non-profit organizations they help to run.

We work closely with our clients to help them determine what matters most, and to chart a clear path forward—towards greater independence and while making a difference.

We call this Thoughtful Investing.

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

When we embrace diversity, the world gets bigger and our perspective broadens. Continually widening our circle to include people from many different backgrounds and cultures, with all their unique talents and experiences, helps us see new opportunities and potential challenges that otherwise would have remained hidden.

Diversity Within

At Pence Wealth Management, diversity is one of our pillar values and also a key strength. Our strong commitment to a culture of inclusion means that we recruit, develop and advance individuals based on their skills and talents.

Consequently, our corporate community is comprised of individuals from around the world, drawn from a broad cross section of the population, with many different ideas and perspectives.

And although we come from many different places and spaces, we share alike a commitment to excellence and openness. We speak 9 different languages and our employees deliver unique ideas and exceptional service to our clients everyday.

We strongly believe that practicing on our value in diversity leads to creating an inclusive corporate culture which better serves our clients, but only when each team member is given a voice and included in the process.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

At Pence Wealth Management, our employees, partners and clients represent more than just individuals, they each are part of a community, and share in its triumphs and troubles. When we share, too, by supporting and engaging with communities, we can build bridges that allow more people to make an impact and enjoy the fruits of their contributions.

Community engagement programs bring value to employees, by creating a sense of purpose and a positive company culture. They also bring values to the communities they serve by providing essential services and support, while strengthening both in the process.

Pence Wealth Management is in the field several times a year and actively involved with the communities we serve. Our partnership with Working Wardrobe is one initiative that exemplifies this pillar value. In addition to serving on the ground coordinating clothing drives and in-kind donations, we provide sponsorships for training to help support their clients on their transition back to full employment.

CANCER RESEARCH & AWARENESS

Philanthropy is incredibly personal, and as good as a philanthropic gesture make us feel, at Pence Wealth Management we want to be sure our actions—and our client’s actions—have a lasting impact.

This is why philanthropic intent is central to our giving strategy. Generosity backed by strategy supports the gifts we give are able to achieve the goals we set for them.

There are many different ways to have an impact; from helping a community that has touched your heart, to supporting an institution that aligns with your hopes and beliefs about the world.

One such organization we vigorously support is the Egypt Cancer Network (ECN). We share their vision to provide the highest quality of life and care to cancer patients. What is most exciting is the thriving philanthropic community that has sprung up around ECN; professionals and executives in engineering, neurology, economics, entrepreneurship and business all come together to support and raise funds for cancer research through ECN. They all share a love of Egypt and the desire to be of help to those in their home country. We are proud to be a part of this organization and its vital mission.

VETERAN SUPPORT

In addition to nurturing diversity within, we also seek to form strategic business relationships with partners and suppliers who share our commitment to diversity, which in turn drives economic development and the growth of businesses in the innovation value chain. We also support a number of organizations that are focused on developing and advancing diverse talent, particularly in the financial industry.

One such initiative, led by our Chief Investment Officer—Dryden Pence, has served to bridge LPL’s Independent Advisor Institute program with the US Army Reserve in order to recruit skilled and talented military veterans into the program and prepare them for a career in the financial industry.

The US Military is one of the most diverse organizations on earth, and the cradle of innovation, but because of the difficult transition back to civilian life, many individuals are not fully included in the society they served while in uniform. As a veteran himself, Dryden understands how the skills and talents developed in the military can be utilized to succeed in finance and benefit both the financial industry and veterans.

“When you recruit veterans, you have access to a talent pool of people who are disciplined, well-trained, good listeners, and able to execute a plan. These skills are key to becoming a successful financial advisor.”
